PRS for Music is a passionate supporter of contemporary classical music and delivers a range of free events for composers across the UK. We collaborate with leading composers, ensembles, and organisations to offer seminars, workshops, commissioning opportunities, showcases and concerts celebrating our members’ music, including:
- New Streams composer development initiative in partnership with Riot Ensemble, Pusher and Chris Roe to offer contemporary composers the opportunity to adapt one of their existing works for film and TV (2023).
- Philip Glass: Refractions commission opportunity in association with Dunvagen Music Publishers and Orange Mountain Music with mentorship from Robert Ames (2022)
- Ligeti Quartet online concert with music by Shiva Feshareki, Ben Gaunt, Robin Haigh, Laura Jurd, Anna Meredith and Ayanna Witter-Johnson (2021)
- Composition and recording workshops in partnership with Riot Ensemble with mentorship from Mira Calix, with six solo commissions released in partnership with Zeitgeist and BBC Radio 3 (2020)
- Wild Plum Songbook workshops and commissioning opportunity in partnership with Wild Plum Arts and Cheltenham Music Festival with mentorship from Joanna Lee and Errollyn Wallen (2019)
- CoDI CHAMBER composer development initiative in association with Tŷ Cerdd, the Berkeley Ensemble and Presteigne Festival with mentorship from Lynne Plowman (2018/19)
- International Artist Managers’ Association conference showcase in association with City Music Foundation and The Hermes Experiment, with music by Emily Hall, Freya Waley-Cohen, Kate Whitley and Kemal Yusuf (2018)
