Wild Plum Songbook: a development and commissioning opportunity for composers who identify as women

PRS for Music Partnered with Wild Plum Arts and Cheltenham Music Festival to offer you the chance to take part in a workshop and have your work commissioned for the Cheltenham Music Festival’s COMPOSIUM – a new one-day industry-wide event for composers, publishers, music industry leaders and influencers which took place on 10 July 2019.
The Workshop
Six composers were given the opportunity to attend a two-day workshop in London on 8-9 March 2019. Composers took part in professional development sessions with industry experts and hear their works for mezzo-soprano and piano performed in a workshop by Rachael Lloyd and Lana Bode. This provided an opportunity to try out new ideas or techniques and receive feedback from mentor composers Joanna Lee and Errollyn Wallen in a supportive environment. Composers also received an audio-visual recording of their workshop for their own personal use.
The Commission
Wild Plum Arts and Cheltenham Music Festival commissioned one of the works from the workshop for further development, to be premiered during COMPOSIUM on 10 July 2019 and included in the Wild Plum Songbook, a growing portfolio of newly-commissioned works.
