UK Music’s Jo Dipple will be joined by Liverpool Wavertree MP Luciana Berger and MOBO winner Esco Williams at first music skills workshop.

According to the Liverpool Echo, students from five Liverpool secondary schools will get the chance to get careers advice from music industry experts at the first UK Music Skills and Schools day at Childwall Sports and Science Academy.

Taking place today (13 February), event will see MOBO winner Esco Williams, soul pop band MIC LOWRY and singer-songwriter Natalie McCool all on hand to offer their tips.

Jo Dipple, chief executive of UK Music, told the newspaper: ‘UK Music is committed to helping young people get the skills and experience they need to get jobs in the music industry. Whether they want to perform, write, work in the live or recorded industry, there are so many exciting careers for them out there.

‘I am so grateful to Luciana for co-hosting this Skills and Schools day in Liverpool. She is demonstrating a commitment to maintaining Liverpool's vast and strong musical heritage into the next generation and beyond."

The UK Music Skills Academy is part of the National Skills Academy for Creative and Cultural. The scheme was unveiled by UK Music last July. Find out more about the initiative.
