The music streaming and subscription service has put together a list of the ‘hottest artists aged under 25’ based on number one hits, volume and growth of shares and viral chart success.
Swedish DJ and producer Avicii topped the list after becoming the first artist to ever reach one billion streams on Spotify.
One Direction were the highest UK artist on the list at number four with Rita Ora at number nine.
Sam Smith was named 12th after his hit Money on My Mind reached over 32m streams on Spotify.
The singer songwriter is currently at number one in the album charts with his first full length record In the Lonely Hour becoming the fastest selling debut of the year so far.
John Newman and Jake Bugg are other British success stories to also make the top 25.
