Eventbox, Un-Convention, Daredevil Project and Café Oto are among the winners of funding from the Joining the Dots programme.

The companies were chosen from 160 applications to receive a ‘game-changing’ grant from initiative organisers, the hub.

Eventbox is trialling a new location-based app which lets music lovers listen to listings to discover clubs and gigs taking place nearby.

Un-Convention is an online resource allowing artists to play shows to relevant audiences by trading gigs with other relevant songwriters and performers.

Other winners included Daredevil Project who are trialling Challenge Off, a mobile social game played around gigs and festivals aimed at increasing fan and audience engagement. Café Oto, a music venue in Dalston, is trialling a digital membership service that makes available exclusive downloads from their archive of live recordings.

All four winners will receive financial support and work with the hub until June 2015. They will also receive mentoring support and regular opportunities to meet and share ideas.

All four will be take part in the Joining the Dots themed afternoon of panels at the Great Escape’s first tech creativity day on Saturday 10 May.

Julia Payne, director from the hub, will also be taking part in the Arts Council England and PRS for Music’s DIY on the same day at the festival.
