Jazz duo Blue Lab Beats (pictured) and R&B singer-songwriter Etta Bond are among the latest acts to receive support from PRS Foundation’s Momentum Music Fund.

They are joined by Nubya Garcia, She Makes War, Catching Flies, Flava D and Gambimi who each benefit from grants of between £5,000 and £15,000 to help take their careers to the next level.

Oscar Jerome, Casey, Catholic Action, Crows, Dan Bettridge, False Advertising, Maeve, Queen Zee and Stillhound are the final acts making up the 16-strong list.

Oscar Jerome, said: 'Really grateful to get this Momentum Music funding. It has come at crucial time when I need the backing to get a body of work together.'

Vanessa Reed, chief executive at PRS Foundation said: 'Congratulations to the 16 talented artists in this latest round of our much needed and ground-breaking Momentum Music Fund. I’m delighted that we’re able to support so many distinctive artists at vital tipping points in their careers from so many different UK regions.  I look forward to seeing the impact of the fund’s growing remit in the coming months and years.'

Alan Morrison, head of music at Creative Scotland, commented: 'Scotland has always had a knack for crafting a cracking pop tune, whether driven by guitars or propelled by synths, and Catholic Action and Stillhound are no exception to that.

'It’s really encouraging to see two of Scotland’s most talked-about bands grab the attention of the UK music industry and step up to the next level thanks to the Momentum Music Fund.'

Speaking about the Welsh acts awarded, Lisa Matthews, portfolio manager at Arts Council of Wales added: 'Casey and Dan Bettridge are the perfect examples of the level of artist and activity we want to enable though Momentum. It was a difficult decision to make given the range and quality those applying. We really hope to see even more from Wales come forward to take this opportunity before the next deadline and make it even more difficult next time!'

The next deadline for applications to the Momentum Music Fund is 5 November 2018 via the PRS Foundation website. The Foundation is particularly calling on applications from outside London.
