DJ Monitor

Who are DJ Monitor?

DJ Monitor provide Music Recognition Technology (MRT) for collection societies like PRS for Music, as well as music venues around the world.

Specialising in electronic music, their technology can track and share metadata whenever and wherever music is played — helping rightsholders get paid as accurately as possible.

How does PRS work with DJ Monitor?

PRS use DJ Monitor to track when music is played at:

  • Events and festivals including Glastonbury, Creamfields, All Points East, Boomtown and Boardmasters
  • Clubs and venues including Ministry of Sound, Fabric and Sub Club

Why should I join DJ Monitor?

By uploading your music to their system, you'll help ensure that it’s identifiable when played in the UK and around the world, helping us to pay you accurate royalties.

How do I join DJ Monitor?

You can create a free account via their portal.

What territories do they cover?

DJ Monitor covers territories around the world, including the UK, Europe, USA, Australia and India. The technology produces music reports for many of the world’s largest collective management organisations (CMOs), including PRS.

What do I need to upload?

Once you’ve created your DJ Monitor account, you’ll need to upload your audio files.

Each upload to DJM should also be registered with PRS (via Register My Music), though you can have multiple recordings or edits uploaded to DJM that relate to only one PRS registration. E.g. a jingle package with multiple versions of the same track can be uploaded.

Please provide the following information for each track:

Required Metadata

  • Audio file name, including the file extension (unique identifier) in as high a quality as possible
  • Track title (should be the same title as when you registered the track with PRS)
  • Composer and publisher name(s), including society affiliations
  • Label name (if it’s a commercial recording, then indicate record label)
  • Audio format: MP3, WAV or AIF

Recommended Metadata

  • Tunecode
  • ISWC
  • CAE number
  • Society name: PRS for Music
