Keeping your details up to date

To make sure you get paid the royalties you’re owed, its essential to have your works registered and up to date bank details on your PRS account.

We pay royalties to our members through four main distributions in April, July, October and December.

There are two sets of dates that will impact when you can be paid for your music use. Below you will find when you need to have your works registered and your bank details updated by, in order to be paid in the next distribution.

Register your works

This table shows the cut-off dates in 2024 for registering your works in time to receive royalties (if your music has been used) for each distribution:

The time it takes to pay royalties varies, depending on where and how your music has been used.

Here’s how the process works:

• Licensees report the use of your music to us (the place it was played, e.g., a TV channel or streaming service) 
• We then match it to the music registered in our copyright database
• Once it’s been matched, we can pay your royalties

Bank details

Keeping your bank details up to date is also crucial to ensure you receive payment when you expect to and don’t have royalties waiting on hold.

You can do this by:

1. Logging into your membership account on the PRS website 
2. Go to My Account 
3. Click Edit Account 
4. Under the subheading Financial, click 'Update your bank info'.
