October 2023 Distribution update
A record £239 million in royalties paid out in October 2023.
That’s £28 million and 13% more than in October last year, with over 4000 members being paid royalties for the first time.
A summer packed full of live music and concerts, featuring The Who, Bastille, Rag ‘N’ Bone Man and Pulp, helped boost public performance royalties in October.
Royalties from online streaming services (MTOL) are up 101%, including key contributions from Spotify , TikTok, and YouTube. In addition, royalties from on-demand video services (GEOL), including Netflix, Apple TV and Amazon, are up by 33%.
International royalties have increased by 25% thanks to significant payments from international societies including GEMA (Germany) and ASCAP (USA).
