The National Foundation for Youth Music now supports more than 400 music projects, the highest number in its history.
According to the charity, this figure is an increase of 54 percent on 2011 figures and means the organisation is reaching out to 90,000 young people.
This number represents an investment of £20.1m in music education for the marginalised. For every £1 granted by Youth Music, partnership funding increases this investment to £1.38.
The charity’s operational restructure cut costs by £2m and helped contribute to the increased investment.
Matt Griffiths, Youth Music’s executive director, said: ‘We’re delighted that the impact of our restructure and cost-cutting, along with our new open-access grant programmes, can be seen in our support for music projects now running at the highest level ever in our history.
‘We know that services for children and young people are under huge budgetary pressures in the present climate so we are pleased that around 90,000 of them are now benefiting from over £20m of our current investment in music education.’
Further figures showed that 45 percent its funding is now supporting projects in the 20 percent most deprived local authority areas in England
