Noah Bouchard was named as the winner of the Lyricist Award, sponsored by PRS for Music, at last week’s Youth Music Awards 2024.

Now in its 25th year, the annual awards ceremony — which ‘celebrates the trailblazing entrepreneurs, grassroots projects and young leaders from across the scene’ — took place last Wednesday (16 October) at Troxy in London.

Noah was among the major award-winners on the night as he picked up the Lyricist Award (‘celebrating outstanding lyrics in an original track by an artist or group involved in a Youth Music-funded project’) for his track Dad’s Clothes. Avelino presented Noah with the award on the night.

‘It's kind of crazy,’ Noah said about his award. ‘I appreciate that people have connected to the story that I'm telling, to the words that I've put together. I think that's kind of the main thing I've always been trying to achieve, expressing myself in the most authentic way that I can without any ego or bravado, or without taking down the defensive layers that I think we naturally put up, and I put up in my usual daily life.

'When I'm writing, I've tried to strip that away as much as possible. So that being recognised, it's really lovely.’
