Night czar Amy Lamé and Help Musician’s Richard Robinson will be among the speakers at Yes She Can, a new event aimed at promoting greater gender equality in the music industry.
Yes She Can takes place on 9 March at 229 in London as part of the HeForShe Arts Week and will focus on discussion addressing the issues facing young women in the music industry alongside an evening showcase.
There will be a strong emphasis on those roles where women are historically under represented such as sound engineer, producer, lighting engineer, tour manager and stage manager.
Award winning producer Mandy Parnell, Trish Wegg studio manager, Olga Fitroy recording engineer and mixer and Dom Frazer, owner of The Boileroom will all be speaking.
Bands playing the evening showcase include She Drew The Gun, Amber Arcades, Jealous Of The Birds and Winter of ‘82.
Sybil Bell, Yes She Can co-founder, said: ‘We are really chuffed to have the opportunity to roll out our first event for young women as part of the UNWomen’s #HeForShe initiative.
‘Yes She Can, in partnership with Help Musicians, is a fantastic opportunity for young women to learn about careers in music, particularly in roles women don’t normally take. The line up of industry experts and speakers is outstanding and bringing so many young women together during this week is incredibly exciting.’
