Years & Years, the BBC Sound of 2015 poll winners, have hit the top spot for the first time with their latest single Kings.
The electro-pop act enjoyed combined chart sales of 101,000 to reach number one, taking the number one from Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding.
Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander said: ‘I don’t think any of us thought we’d be number one. No one told us it would be number one. They said it wouldn’t get to number one, but it did!’
While Ellie’s single dropped to number two, her single from the soundtrack to the 50 Shades of Grey film was the most-streamed track of the week, racking up 2.15m streams.
Elsewhere in the album charts, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds reached number one with his outfit’s second album Chasing Yesterday.
The record reached combined sales of 89,000 to become the fastest-selling LP of the year so far.
Chasing Yesterday, which follows their chart-topping 2011 self-titled debut, was streamed 1,700 times over the past seven days.
