Writing on the Wall, the theme to recent James Bond film Spectre written by Sam Smith and Jimmy Napes, has won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
The ceremony, held last night (28 February) at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles saw the songwriting duo follow in the footsteps of Adele to take the prize.
Previously, the XL Recording artist won the Oscar for Best Original Song with her Bond theme Skyfall.
Speaking in his acceptance speech, Sam said: ‘I read an article by Sir Ian McKellen saying no openly gay man had ever won an Oscar.
‘If this the case, even if this isn't the case, I'd like to dedicate this to all the LGBT community around the world. I stand here tonight as a proud gay man and I hope we can all stand together one day.’
Elsewhere, Amy, Asif Kapadia’s documentary film on the life of the troubled soul singer picked up the gong for Best Documentary (Feature).
Veteran Italian composer Ennio Morricone won the Best Original Score for Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight.
