Music is the theme for this year’s World Intellectual Property (IP) Day taking place on 26 April.

According to the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the annual event is in place to ‘promote discussion of the role of intellectual property in encouraging innovation and creativity’.

The body has adopted Bob Marley’s Get Up Stand Up as theme for this year’s instalment.

The day was first set up in 2000 as a way of helping the creative industries from across the globe come together to celebrate IP and how it contributes to the arts.

PRS for Music is showing its support for the day through social media and the intranet, encouraging employees to spread the word to customers and stakeholders in support of the collecting society and the importance of copyright across our industry.

You can contribute to the discussion by using the following hashtag and handles - #WorldIPDay @WIPO @PRSforMusic.
