Mastering engineer Mandy Parnell and music journalist Sylvia Patterson are among the music industry speakers at Women’s Work in Belfast.

Taking place at the Oh Yeah Music Centre 24-29 May, the event aims to celebrate and champion the role of women in music.

According to organisers, 'the purpose is to raise the visibility of women who are generally in the minority in music, by hosting a range of activities that are open to all genders and include showcases, gigs, special events, panels, talks, and exhibitions'.

Mandy Parnell is an engineer whose career includes albums with The xx, Matthew Herbert and many more. She will lead a Q&A on her career while Sylvia Patterson will discuss how to become a music journalist.

Elsewhere, panels will include a songwriting workshop, Musicians Union one-to-one session and a session exploring gender equality in the music industry.

Up to 30 industry speakers, panellists, facilitators and writers will take part in a series of discussions, talks and workshops. Participating venues include Oh Yeah, Start Together Studio, the Black Box, Pavilion and Strand Arts Centre.

Women’s Work is supported by Help Musicians NI, PRS Foundation and The Department for Communities.
