Winter Moods, a Maltese rock band, has raised €40,300 (£28,000) for local charity Puttinu Cares at their 30th anniversary show.

Taking place at Fort St Elmo, the sum was made up from ticket sales revenue and donations.

The band played a two and a half hour set in front of 3,000 attendees with guest spots from Maestro Joe Brown on piano, Charles Busuttil on acoustic guitar and Mark Farrugia on trumpet among other performers.

Ivan Grech, frontman of Winter Moods, said: ‘We are very happy to have celebrated another milestone with such a memorable night. It was special; the response of the crowd on the night and the feedback from the people after the event mean everything to us. And we are especially delighted to have raised over €40,000 for Puttinu, an organisation made up of passionate people with hearts of gold that deserve all our support.

‘Thank you especially to the entities who supported us and made this possible; our crew and everyone who worked behind the scenes; and the people, for being there with us once again.’
