Island Records is teaming up with Indiegogo to launch Fan Republic, a new music portal aimed at showcasing emerging artists.
The site is described as a cross between a record label and a crowdfunding platform - artists who choose to use Fan Republic to raise financial backing will be able to access discounts on video production and studio rates negotiated by Island.
To celebrate Fan Republic’s launch, the website is offering artists the chance to win a single release with Island Records.
The label’s A&R team will select a winner from all artists who reach their funding target within the first six months from launch.
Darcus Beese, Island Records president, said: ‘A&R is the life blood of Island Records and we also have a great track record of innovation in the digital space.
‘There are many ways for artists to take the first steps in their careers and the crowdfunding route is increasingly one of them. Fan Republic shows our commitment to finding and nurturing great new talent, alongside our partners Indiegogo through their globally respected crowdfunding platform.’
According to Island, the winners will also have their single mixed and mastered by the online service provided by Abbey Road Studios.
