Berwick Street Calling is calling on songwriters and artists of all genres to submit their songs and win the opportunity to have their music pressed on vinyl.

The competition is to launch on 16 April as part of the ninth anniversary of this year’s Record Store Day.

Submissions will be judged by a panel of music industry experts including representatives from NME, independent local radio station Soho Radio, music director at House of St Barnabas Sav Remazi and the man behind one of Soho’s premier vinyl retailers, Phil Barton at Sister Ray.

Phil Barton said: ‘Vinyl is timeless and a fundamental part of the music industry’s heritage. This is a great competition for young artists, not only as a platform to launch their single but also to be a part of the vinyl revival.

From 7 June, shortlisted tracks are voted on by the public - the winning artist will have 1,000 copies of the vinyl release stocked in record shops across Soho.

Submissions can be made via the Berwick Street website from 16 April. The deadline is 30 May 2016 with the winner to be unveiled on 5 July.
