UK Music has welcomed two new appointments to Parliamentary select committees.
Jesse Norman, MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire, has been named as chair of the Culture, Media and Sport select committee while Iain Wright, MP for Hartlepool, has been named chair of the Business, Innovation and Skills select committee.
According to the organisation, the music and creative industries ‘are lucky’ to have these two MPs taking on these roles.
Both committees are two of the most important when it comes to policies affecting the music business.
Jo Dipple, UK Music chief executive, said: ‘In Jesse Norman we have a Chairman with independence of mind, personal experience, a commitment to music and the creative industries and a willingness to work with colleagues across party lines.
‘Iain Wright has continually shown strong support for music and the IP sector and will make an incredibly effective chairman.’
UK Music recently published its Wish You Were Here 2015 study revealing that music tourism in the UK increased by 34 percent between 2011 and 2014. Click here for the full story.
