Taking place 2 March at the University of Glasgow, the event will see a whole host of industry experts and thought leaders coming together over the course of the day to discuss and debate key topics.
Fiona Hyslop MSP, cabinet secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs, will introduce the day with Jo Dipple, chief executive of UK Music, in the Adam Smith building on the university campus. Music industry legends Geoff Ellis, chief executive of T in the Park/DF Concerts & Events, and producer/engineer and Chemikal Underground label owner Paul Savage will both discuss their careers and experiences in the industry.
A panel discussion with Dougal Perman, chair of the Scottish Music Industry Association, Doug Paine, founder of Mungo’s Hi Fi record label, Jenn Nimmo-Smith from music PR company Electric Shores and Ivan Hall Barrientos, producer/DJ from duo Illyus & Barrientos, will each share their pearls of wisdom for working in the sector and highlight the different aspects of the industry.
Jo Dipple, UK Music chief executive, said: ‘We are delighted to bring together some of Scotland’s leading music industry professionals to share their wealth of insight and experience with the next generation of creative entrepreneurs.
‘As the sector contributed £295m to the Scottish economy in 2015, UK Music understands the importance of helping young people to access a hugely important industry and take their first steps towards a fulfilling career in music.’
