Buch, a PRS for Music member, has been DJing for over a decade but only recently turned his hand to production. His track Monkey Drums, remixed by Goksel Vancin, was downloaded last week by 22-year-old student Phillip Lüpke.
Lüpke learned about the track when he used music identifier app Shazam at a club. Earlier this year Shazam’s European Vice President David Jones’s declared that the service would ‘drive more than $300m in music sales this year via digital storefront partners like iTunes and Amazon’.
In related news, yesterday PRS for Music launched its Amplify dance music initiative, which aims to encourage dance music publishers, songwriters and composers to ensure their music is registered with the organisation so they can earn the correct amount of royalties.
