Indie-rock quartet Pale Waves (pictured) and pop provocateur Bishop Briggs are among the artists nominated for the inaugural Music Moves Europe Talent Awards.

This new annual prize celebrates emerging artists who represent the European sound of today and tomorrow.

A total of 24 acts have been nominated this year, with an international jury now tasked with selecting two winners from each of the following genres: pop, rock, electronic, RnB/urban, hip-hop/rap and singer-songwriter.

All 12 winning artists will be rewarded with a performance at Eurosonic Noorderslag Festival in January, a training programme and financial support for touring and promotion.

Furthermore, all winners compete for a public choice award, which will be announced at the award ceremony during the festival.

The awards programme replaces the European Border Breakers Awards and is supported by both the Reeperbahn and Eurosonic festivals in partnership with Independent Music Companies Association (IMPALA), the International Music Managers Forum (IMMF), the European Commission and Creative Europe.
