Tyneside to host 2015 BBC 6 Music Festival

BBC Radio 6 Music has announced its 2015 festival will take place on Tyneside and feature The Charlatans, Royal Blood, Hot Chip and Kate Tempest.

The festival takes place at venues across Newcastle and Gateshead from 20 to 22 February, and includes a daytime and evening schedule.

Performing on the first night are Interpol, The War On Drugs, Mogwai and Sleater-Kinney, in what will be their first UK appearance in almost a decade.

Hot Chip, Royal Blood, The Fall, Jungle, Maximo Park, Kate Tempest, Gruff Rhys, Simian Mobile Disco, Django Django, Father John Misty, Ghostpoet, The Cribs, Villagers and Ibibio Sound Machine will play on Saturday 21 February.

On the festival’s final night, The Charlatans, Jamie T, Neneh Cherry, Jon Hopkins, British Sea Power, Gaz Coombes, Young Fathers, Wire, The Maccabees, Glass Animals, Lonelady, King Creosote, Public Service Broadcasting and Unknown Mortal Orchestra will perform at the Sage Gateshead.

There will also be a BBC 6 Music Festival By Day in venues in The Ouseburn and Stephenson Quarter areas of Newcastle. More details will be announced shortly.
