The Orb are to celebrate their 25th anniversary with the release of a four-disc box set and new tour.

Alex Paterson, founding member of the experimental electronic group, is to release History of the Future - The Island Years in October to mark what the group are describing as their ‘silver jubilee’.

The music on the box set will span across their career including hits such as Little Fluffy Clouds, remixes from the likes of Andrew Weatherall and Coldcut and live material from previous gigs.

The Orb were initially formed by Alex Paterson and the KLF's Jimmy Cauty in 1988 and went on to enjoy huge success as an ambient electronic duo with albums such as A Huge Ever-Growing Pulsating Brain Which Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld and Orblivion.

They’ve also DJed all over the globe as well as remixing the likes of Primal Scream and collaborating with the likes of Lee Scratch Perry.
