The Maccabees have landed their first number one album with their latest record Marks To Prove It.
According to Official Charts Company data, the four piece finished the week ahead of nearest rival Lianne La Havas and her LP Blood by 1,300 combined chart sales.
Felix White, Maccabees guitarist, said: ‘We are very proud that our fourth album has given us our first number one. Thank you so much to everyone that bought it and for staying with us all these years.’
The rest of the top five is Years & Years’ Communion at three, followed by Ed Sheeran’s X (4) and Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour (5).
In the singles charts, One Direction took the top spot for the fourth time with their latest single Drag Me Down, the group's first following the departure of Zayn Malik.
The record has also earned the highest first-week streams for a UK single, clocking up 2.03m plays in its opening week across chart-reporting streaming services such as Spotify and Deezer.
Elsewhere, Cilla Black’s The Very Best Of has re-entered the top twenty of the album charts, reaching number 14 following her recent passing.
