Today (Friday) the Ivors Academy has revealed that The Ivors 2020 will be presented in association with Apple Music.
PRS for Music has renewed its commitment to the Ivors and will retain their longstanding relationship as the sponsors of two awards: the Most Performed Work and Icon Awards, which was formally known as the Outstanding Contribution to British Music Award.
The Ivors Academy has teamed with Apple Music for a three-year deal to support the next generation of talent by introducing the Rising Star Award in association with Apple Music.
The new award is designed to honour young British or Irish songwriters and composers, and the winner will receive ongoing support and mentorship from the Apple Music Team.
In addition to the new award, Apple Music will also feature content from the event across their platform, including the global livestream Beats 1.
The collaboration will also include a series of workshops and events for The Ivors Academy members, led by Apple Music, to cultivate new talent and give insight into access to creative tools and how music is distributed and consumed.
PRS for Music will continue to play a pivotal role in supporting The Ivors Academy across the areas of campaigning, education and awards sponsorship.
As well as its sponsorship of two Ivor Novello Awards, PRS for Music will continue to sponsor both The Ivors Composer Awards and The Ivors Academy Gold Badge.
Graham Davies, chief executive, The Ivors Academy, says: ‘2020 marks the 65th year that the Academy has presented Ivor Novello Awards and this new relationship with Apple Music marks an exciting evolution for us, alongside PRS for Music’s renewed commitment. The Ivors 2020 will take place on Thursday 21 May at the Grosvenor House in London, and will be hosted by Paul Gambaccini.
There are no changes to the entry or judging process for The Ivors, which are run entirely independently by The Ivors Academy.
