The Great Escape is upon us and with more than 350 acts due to take to stages across Brighton over the next three days who should you hone in on? We asked some of our favourite tastemakers to reveal their must-sees…

Andy Malt: news editor, CMU
I'm really excited to see Susanne Sundfør on the bill for this year's Great Escape, as I'm a massive fan of hers. And incomprehensibly talented instrumental outfit Three Trapped Tigers are always guaranteed to put on a brilliant show. I'm also looking forward to some pop from MØ and Chloe Howl, and a touch of indie rock from Nadine Shah and Mikal Cronin.

Chris Coco: journalist, broadcaster, songwriter, A&R
My must-see list for this year’s festival goes something like this…

  1. King Krule - pure, raw songs from South London

  2. The band with the worst name on the list - in this case The Upskirts

  3. Hjaltalin - experimental Scandinavian beards

  4. A band with a name made of two words that really don't go together - in this case Bipolar Sunshine

  5. Something you know nothing about

Joe Frankland: artist development manager, Generator
My app is now full of artists I want to see. Going to probably just go with the flow though – planning things never works out! I do hope to catch London Grammar, Chloe Howl, Farao, Khushi, Wolf Alice, Thumpers, Glass Animals (pictured above), Embers, Marmozets, Nadine Shah (worth catching on Friday in a church), Wall, Sega Bodega, Rainy Milo, Seasfire, Eye Emma Jedi and of course our artists at the North East showcase on Saturday from 12pm – 4pm at The Haunt - Mausi, Eliza and the Bear, Nadine Shah and Symphonic Pictures.

Camella Agabalyan: events manager, VICE/Noisey
Noisey are back for the second time in Brighton which is really exciting! Last year we had HAIM at Audio which was incredible - it was on a Saturday night so people really went for it and they were their usual cheeky selves which always gives a really good feel to a festival show like this, so this year we're definitely expecting people to go mental - we have Brooke Candy who isn't exactly the shyest of rappers…

Flown over fresh from the US this month, Brooke Candy will be exclusively performing at The Great Escape on Thursday at Audio for our Noisey stage. VICE are big fans of hers, alongside Perez Hilton, Terry Richardson, Red Bull and many more, we recommend getting a chance to see her before she gets as big as Iggy Azalea!

Scruffizer will also be one to check out. The 22-year-old MC from West London recently released his single Rap Rave through Ministry of Sound to a lot of hype. Noisey are big fans of his and we're excited to catch him on our stage at Audio this year too.

As ever with a festival like The Great Escape there are so many good acts playing chances are you’ll spend most of the build-up with headaches over clashes and how to get from venue to venue in time. But if you can make it to see any of these picks of ours you’re sure for a good time; Arlissa, Halls, Empress Of, Rainy Milo, Brooke Candy, CHVRCHES, Crystal Fighters, Etta Bond x Raf Riley, Mausi, Eye Emma Jedi, Parquet Courts, Glass Animals,, Is Tropical, Wolf Alice, Moddi, Chloe Howl, Oyama, Iggy Azalea, Phosphorescent, Findlay, Sega Bodega. We’ve even put together a Spotify playlist featuring all these and more. Listen below.

We hope this has given you a few ideas for this year’s festival. Make sure you stop by the PRS for Music panels and networking party to say hello to the M gang and check out the PRS for Music Foundation showcase on Saturday.
