Take That have reached the number one spot in the album charts for the sixth time with their new album III.

According to Official Charts Company data, the record sold nearly 145,000 copies in seven days since its release, making it Take That’s first number one since they became a trio.

III, which features the band’s number one single These Days, sold 38,000 more copies than Ed Sheeran’s X, which finished the week at number two in the charts.

Previous number one albums from Take That include Everything Changes (1993), Nobody Else (1995), Greatest Hits (1996), Beautiful World (2006), The Circus (2008), and Progress (2010).

Elsewhere in the album charts, Australian rockers AC/DC landed their 18th UK top 40 album with Rock Or Bust.

In the singles chart, Ed Sheeran has spent a second week at number one with his track, Thinking Out Loud.

The song recently claimed the longest ascent to number one of any single in Official Charts history. It's the fourth top 40 song to be taken from X.
