High summer has seen all round entertainer Cheryl Cole (left) make a chart comeback with her saxophone riff-laden new single Crazy Stupid Love.
Mrs. Fernandez-Versini, rumoured to be rebranding herself as simply Cheryl, recently scored her fourth solo chart-topper with the track, which also features Tinie Tempah.
Selling 118,000 in its first frame and still currently in the top five, the single has some way to go to equal the sales of the returning X Factor judge’s biggest UK hit, Fight for This Love.
Meanwhile her debut solo offering, released in 2009, has since gone on to join the million-sellers club according to Official Charts Company data.
Elsewhere, the UK has been doing a good business in young British male singer-songwriters of late and 21-year-old George Ezra is the latest addition to the pack.
The Hertford artist’s debut set Wanted on Voyage has to date peaked at number three in the UK and continues to enjoy a healthy stay at the high end of the chart.
George is also attracting attention on the continent where both his album and hit single Budapest are currently performing strongly.

However, it’s Ed Sheeran who reigns supreme on the UK albums chart this week with his sophomore long player X clocking up a seventh week at the summit.
The Suffolk star is enjoying the longest consecutive stay at the top since Adele’s 21 notched up 11 continuous weeks in pole position during 2011.
Ascending to the top of the UK singles chart this week are Norwegian duo Nico & Vinz with their Afrobeat-pop tune Am I Wrong.
The track was a hit in Scandinavia last year and has gone global during the course of 2014, including a number four peak on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Incidentally, the pair is the first act from Norway to top the UK chart since pop trio A-ha hit pole position with The Sun Always Shines on TV back in 1986.
Meanwhile, Canadian quartet MAGIC!are currently ruling the US chart with their reggae-pop number Rude taking the trophy for the fourth week running.
One of the sounds of the summer, the former UK chart-topper may however be ousted soon by Brit Sam Smith, whose Stay with Me climbs to number two.
Smith’s stateside star is continuing to shine very brightly with his debut album In the Lonely Hour recently peaking at number two, while he also features on Disclosure’s current US top ten smash Latch.

Other British acts finding success across the pond include Romford’s Jessie J who joins American stars Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj on Bang Bang.
The collaboration has zoomed straight on to the chart at number six giving Jessie her third career appearance on the Hot 100.
She previously charted in 2011 with Price Tag which peaked at number 23 and followed it with Domino which went as high as number six.
Also helping the British invasion are Charli XCX’s Boom Clap and Clean Bandit ft Jess Glynne with Rather Be, both of which continue to climb the US top 20.
