In the first ever collaboration between these two diverse radio stations, Lammo and Service will combine their passion for music at a one-off show at the Royal Albert Hall on 12 August.

As well as featuring double Mercury Prize-nominated Laura Marling, BBC 6 Music’s Cerys Matthews and original punk rock purveyors The Stranglers, the line-up includes the London Sinfonietta playing works by Varèse, Berio, John Adams and Anna Meredith.

Roger Wright, director of BBC Proms, told M: 'Radio 3 is home of The Proms, and every concert is broadcast live. But why not share some of those with the other stations? The 6 Music idea came from a programme on the station in which Steve Lamacq and Tom Service played different music to eachother. 'I thought, "Why don't we do that on stage?"

'The artists involved - such as Cerys Matthews and Laura Marling - are already in this wonderful melting pot of music. Cerys doesn't put music in a particular box. She just talks about music and whether its good or not. Genres cease to have meaning when you are bringing together a rich mix of artists.'

The event will be broadcast live on both radio stations. To find out more and purchase tickets, visit http://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/bbc-proms/prom40/default.aspx

This year’s Proms will feature 75 concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall, 13 in the Cadogan Hall and four Proms in the Park events around the UK. Read the full list of events taking place this year.
