Eighties pop stars Spandau Ballet are to be honoured with a PRS for Music Heritage Award at the site of their first live gig.
Taking place on Wednesday 10 September, the group’s plaque will be unveiled at the site of the former Blitz Club.
The group played their first gig at the legendary venue in Soho on 5 December 1979.
At the time, the venue was well known as the home of the ‘Blitz kids’, a creative, glamorous crowd of young Londoners led by the likes of Steve Strange and Boy George.

The PRS for Music Heritage Award was established in 2009 to recognise important live music venues where artists launched their careers. Previous recipients include Orbital, Blur, Faithless and Queen.
