Sony/ATV renews Spotify deal

Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Spotify have announced the signing of a new licensing deal for Europe.

Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Spotify have announced the signing of a new licensing deal for Europe.

The new agreement continues an ongoing relationship between the pair and enable the music streaming and subscription service to continue to offering its users Sony/ATV’s Anglo-American repertoire.

Martin Bandier, Sony/ATV chairman and chief executive officer, said that the company were ‘delighted’ to be renewing their agreement.

‘We share two important goals - growing the market for paid for music subscription services for the benefit of music lovers everywhere while delivering fair compensation to our songwriters for the use of their songs. We believe we have accomplished that with this agreement,’ he explained.

Ken Parks, Spotify's chief content officer, added: ‘We are very pleased to announce our continued partnership with Sony/ATV, home of some of the greatest songwriters in the world.’

Sony /ATV represents the rights of many of the world’s most successful songwriters including the Beatles, Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan.
