One Direction, Calvin Harris and Little Mix have helped break a new record for Sony Music UK by taking the top three positions in the latest UK singles chart.
According to the company, this trio’s results have helped give the company a 20 year best performance for its domestic artists.
One Direction claimed their fourth number one with Drag Me Down, their latest single unexpectedly released on 31 July. The track subsequently broke the Spotify record for most Spotify streams, clocking 4.75m on the first day of release.
Calvin Harris is at number two with his single How Deep Is Your Love while Little Mix are at number three with their latest release, Black Magic.
Nicola Tuer, Sony Music UK’s chief operating officer, said: ‘Congratulations to One Direction, Calvin Harris and Little Mix and the hugely talented teams at Syco Music and Columbia Records UK.
‘It is truly special to achieve this milestone for our domestic artists. This result reinforces our continued domestic success, combined with the fact that with Mark Ronson, OMI, Little Mix and One Direction owning the number one position for 13 weeks of 2015 already - our track record this year has been unmatched.’
Drag Me Down is One Direction's first single from their as-yet untitled fifth album expected later this year.
