Seventeen year old O’Neill, from London, won the 13-18 years old category with her song On Her Own.
Runners up included Becky Arundel (Alive), Kaitlyn Haggis (Across the Sea) and Natalie Shay (Follow You Home).
Leicestershire based Ellis, aged 12, won the 7-12 year old category with his song With You.
Runners up were: Romy Sipek (Devil From Above), Lior Solomons-Wise (Where Has My Life Gone) and Izzy Mawdesley (Fade Away).
The juding panel included renowned songwriters Eg White (Adele, Florence + the Machine, Chloe Howell, Tom Odell, James Blunt), Fraser T Smith (Kaiser Chiefs, Example, James Morrison, Sam Smith), Lili Tarkow-Reinisch (Ellie Goulding) and Jamie Scott (One Direction).
O’Neill and Ellis, plus all 2014 finalists, will perform live at The Song Academy Young Songwriter 2014 showcase at Westfield, Shepherds Bush on Sunday 22 June, 1-5pm.
Eight to 13 year olds can reserve a free place at the academy’s singing and songwriting workshop from 2:30-3:30pm, via www.songacademy.co.uk.
