Size Zero Opera is to present a double bill of two newly commissioned works: Viagron by Arne Gieshoff and Kettlehead by Darren Bloom.

The two new works will be previewed at the acclaimed Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival, at River Side Studios 8 - 9 August 2013, followed by performances at the Arcola Theatre, 13 - 17 August 2013, as part of the annual Grimeborn Opera Festival.

The Viagron by German composer Arne Gieshoff is based on the classical Roman text The Satyricon by Petronius and supported by PRS for Music Foundation.

Kettlehead is set in colonial Africa at the end of the 19th Century and is supported by the London Symphony Orchestra’s Sound Hub project.

Laura Bowler, Size Zero Opera’s artistic director, said: ‘We are extremely excited to be bringing two very different, but equally powerful new works to the stage. This double bill really captures the essence of what Size Zero Opera stands for: brave, bold, uninhibited stories, brought to life on stage by some of the most exciting new talent around.

‘Both Darren Bloom and Arne Geishoff are presenting their first operas in this double bill, and it has been thrilling to witness the creation of two incredibly powerful new works of music theatre.’

The two productions are directed by Royal Academy of Dramatic Academy alumni Matthew Monaghan.

Size Zero Opera Company is supported by the PRS for Music Foundation and the Steven Oliver Award.
