London independent record shop Sister Ray is to open a new outlet at the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch.

The vinyl-only emporium will open its doors on 29 July with a launch party featuring DJs from the shop and new and established acts performing.

According to the shop, this new outlet will feature a mix of new, back catalogue and second hand vinyl.

The news comes as the shop also announced that the current BPI Chairman Tony Wadsworth has joined the retailer.

Tony said: ‘Vinyl has become the format of choice for real music fans and the timing is right for a trusted guide such as Sister Ray to open a second store, dedicated to this most cherished of sound carriers!

‘Phil has been at the forefront of the resurgence of the independent record store in recent years and I'm looking forward to working with him on this and future projects.’

Sister Ray Records originally started out as a stall at London’s Camden market in 1984. The shop moved to Berwick Street in Soho in 1989 before moving to its current premises on the opposite side of the street earlier this year.

The announcement follows the recent news that Rough Trade is planning on opening an outlet in Nottingham.
