Mr McFall’s Chamber, Sir James MacMillan, Pippa Murphy and Karine Polwart were among the winners of the Scottish Awards for New Music (SAFNM), which took place last night (7 March) in Glasgow.
This was the second year of the awards, which highlight and showcase the innovative, experimental and ground-breaking work taking place in Scotland, as well as the depth and breadth of the country’s contemporary music scene.
Mr McFall’s Chamber took home the award for New Music Performers of the Year, while the award for Contribution to New Music in Scotland went to Sir James MacMillan.
PRS for Music sponsored the award for Large Scale New Work which was presented to Shiori Usui for from scratch.
Elsewhere, Matthew Grouse, Pippa Murphy, Karine Polwart and Martin Kershaw were among the winners.
Hosted by music writer and broadcaster, Kate Molleson, live performances on the night came from double award-winners, Red Note Ensemble, and Scottish Opera’s principal trumpet Jason Lewis.
