Sarah Osborn has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Music Publishers Association (MPA).

Sarah takes over the role, with immediate effect, from Stephen Navin who left the post at the MPA’s AGM in June.

By taking on the role, she becomes an MPA director and also joins the UK Music board, the umbrella body for the UK’s commercial music industry.

Sarah said: ‘I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to lead the organisation, particularly at such a crucial time for the MPA and for music publishing as a whole.

‘Our challenge as a trade association is to remain relevant to our members’ interests, to enable members to do more and better business, to ensure that music publishers receive the support they need from policy makers in order to maintain their contribution to the UK economy, and to promote a better understanding of the business of music publishing and the importance of copyright.’

Sarah joined the MPA as general manager in April 2012 after working at Schott Music for eight years.

Her appointment follows news of the appointment of Jane Dyball to the newly created post of chief executive at the Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society (MCPS).
