Hackney-based dance act Rudimental has received the biggest album sales boost from the group’s Mercury Music Prize nomination.

Figures from the Official Charts Company showed that the band, who’ve enjoyed number one singles such as Feel The Love and Waiting All Night, have seen sales of their chart topping album Home increase by 29,000 copies since their nomination.

Nottingham singer songwriter Jake Bugg and his self-titled debut album have seen sales rise by 25,600 copies.

Arctic Monkeys’ AM has seen the most sales since the Mercury Music shortlist was unveiled. However, the record, which has clocked up 321,000 sales, was release during the week of the prize nominations, skewing the statistics.

Martin Talbot, OCC chief executive, said: ‘Based on total sales to date, Jake Bugg is the clear Mercury winner – however, looking at sales since the nominations were announced, Arctic Monkeys should romp home.

‘Who the judges ultimately choose, only time will tell. But what seems clear is that, if the public were choosing, there are four outstanding candidates - Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg, Rudimental and Disclosure.’

Laura Mvula, who has seen a sales increase of 6,500 units since the nomination, is currently favourite to win the prize.
