Brighton rock duo Royal Blood have scored the fastest selling rock debut in three years with their self titled album.
According to the Official Charts Company (OCC), the rockers have sold nearly 66,000 copies of their first effort in the past seven days since its release.
Bassist/singer Mike Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher have enjoyed increasing popularity since they supported the Arctic Monkeys back in May at their gigs in Finsbury Park.
They’ve also performed well received sets at the likes of Download, Glastonbury, T in the Park and Reading over the summer.
Meanwhile, pop icon Kate Bush has also broken chart records after eight of her albums landed on the charts simultaneously.
The success comes in the wake of a much ralded return to the live arena with her critically acclaimed Before The Dawn live show.
Martin Talbot, OCC chief executive, said: ‘Her new live shows have created a huge stir, but for them to help push her catalogue to make such a significant sales impact is further evidence of the love that the British public have for her music, from generation to generation.’
The run of gigs at the Hammersmith Apollo, which kicked off on Tuesday 26 August, are the artist’s first in 35 years.
