Rough Trade host live shows to celebrate 40th anniversary

Iconic record label Rough Trade is to celebrate its 40^th anniversary with a series of gigs around London.

Artists lined up for the live outings include Scritti Politti and Alexis Taylor, John Grant, The Pop Group & Protomatyr and legendary punks, The Raincoats.

Earlier in the year, Rough Trade marked its anniversary with the publication of a special journal.

The label was founded in 1978 by Geoff Travis when he opened a record store just off Ladbroke Grove. The Smiths, The Libertines and The Strokes were all famously signed by the imprint.

Rough Trade has stores in London, New York, Nottingham and they recently launched its own monthly in-store magazine.

The label will stage the following shows:
