Rolling Stones and UMG sign expanded partnership

The Rolling Stones have announced an ‘unprecedented’ new deal with Universal Music Group (UMG) today marking a new era of collaboration between the two.

The Rolling Stones have announced an ‘unprecedented’ new deal with Universal Music Group (UMG) today.

The deal is said to mark the beginning of a new era of expanded collaboration between the two musical icons and will cover the band’s recorded music and audio-visual catalogue, global merchandising and brand management.

As part of the agreement, UMG will extend its position as the home of The Rolling Stones’ catalogue of music and will continue to distribute the band's music globally, including their future releases.

The Rolling Stones have been working with Universal since 2008 when they parted ways with EMI after 16 years together.

Bravado, UMG’s brand management company will assume control of the band’s global merchandising rights, retail licensing, brand management and e-commerce, including their iconic tongue logo.

This new branding push is said to be focussing on recent ventures with Paris Saint-Germain Football Club, Selfridges and Zara.

In addition, UMG will be providing The Rolling Stones with archival support and dedicated space for the band’s physical media assets, musical instruments and equipment.
