Roisin Murphy has announced details of a special live gig at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London.

Taking place on 15 August, the Mercury Prize nominated artist, renowned for her visually spectacular productions, will take over London’s most iconic venue for what is being billed as ‘the theatre’s first ever contemporary live music performance’.

The show has a special resonance for the singer songwriter as the capital city plays a central role on her forthcoming album Take Her Up To Monto, released on 8 July via Play It Again Sam.

Commenting, Roisin said: ‘It’s about the London that I live in. It's a lot about architecture, it's about building and the future coming, it’s about here. I hope it's a realism that makes you feel good about being alive.’

Take Her Up To Monto continues her re-emergence that began with last year’s Top 20, Mercury Prize nominated album Hairless Toys.

Roisin headlines The Globe as part of a series of concerts under the banner Wonder Women, curated by Lauren Laverne for the arts and culture website The Pool.
