Former Moloko singer turned solo arist Roisin Murphy has announced details of a new EP of classic Italian pop.
The Mi Senti EP features five electronic cover versions of hits by the likes of Mina (Ancora Ancora Ancora and Non Credere), Patty Pravo (Pensiero Stupendo), Lucio Battisti (Ancora Tu) and Gino Paoli (La Gatta).
Roisin has also included her own In Sintisi recorded with her partner and Milanese producer Sebastiano Properzi.
According to Vinyl Factory, who are behind the release, the EP is a ‘more refined, and specifically vocal project’ than recent more dancefloor-focused efforts with electronic acts Hot Natured and Freeform Five.
Roisin said: ‘Quite apart from the language, in some of the songs I was on the edge of what my voice can do. For the Mina ones in particular [Ancora Ancora Ancora and Non Credere] there were tears and I almost walked away and gave up.’
Mi Senti will be released by the Vinyl Factory on 28th May 2014 as a limited edition gatefold vinyl.
The collection is expected to pre-empt a full length album from the star later this year.
