Singer songwriter RM Hubbert has won the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) 2013 for his Thirteen Lost & Found record.

The musician was presented with a £20,000 cash prize at an awards ceremony at Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom last night (20 June).

He also received an exclusive piece of artwork from emerging artists Emma Reid and Gregor Morrison, the joint winners of the SAY Award’s sister prize, the SAY Arts commission.

The winner beat competition from the likes of Django Django, Calvin Harris, Emeli Sande and Errors to take the prize.

RM Hubbert said: ‘I am shocked and delighted at winning. I never expected it. It is testament to all my collaborators that we won.’

Judges for the event included a range of music industry experts such as Joe Muggs (Journalist/A&R) and Tjinder Singh (Cornershop; Ample Play Records).

John Williamson, speaking on behalf of the panel, said: ‘I have been involved on a number of these types of discussions before and I don't think any of them have been as passionate or divisive as this one.’

Bill Wells and Aidan Moffat were winners of last year’s inaugural Scottish Album of the Year Award - they collected the £20,000 prize with their Everything is Getting Older record.
