Little Barrie drummer Virgil Howe has suddenly passed away, aged just 41.
The musician and DJ, who was the son of YES guitarist Steve Howe, died yesterday (Monday) his publicist Thom Williams, of Sonic PR, confirmed.
Williams said in a statement: ‘Virgil’s sudden and unexpected death has come as an incredible shock to his friends and family. His band had been in rehearsals preparing for their UK tour, which was due to start today in Cambridge.’
Barrie Cadogan, Little Barrie frontman and songwriter added: ‘We are heartbroken that we have lost our dear friend and brother Virgil Howe. Our thoughts are with his daughter, family and partner. Please respect their privacy during this difficult time.’
During his time in the funk-rock outfit, Howe recorded four albums with the band, including their latest, Death Express, which was released in July.
He also performed on the band’s title theme to the Netflix show Better Call Saul, a Breaking Bad spin-off.
The cause of Howe’s death is currently unknown. He is survived by his presenter wife Jen Dawson, parents Steve and Janet Howe, and siblings Dylan, Georgia and Stephanie.
Tickets for the 14-date tour will be refunded from their point of purchase.
