Ringo Starr has been named among the next wave of artists to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

The Beatles drummer was previously inducted into the hall as a member of the 'fab four' back in the eighties. He will receive this latest accolade at a ceremony taking place   on 18 April 2015.

Ringo will be presented with a special award for musical excellence.

Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Nominees are chosen by a committee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame foundation, then voted for by more than 600 artists, historians and music industry representatives.

Green Day, Bill Withers, Lou Reed and Joan Jetts and the Blackhearts are among the acts to join Ringo in being inducted in 2015.
