The Secret 7” initiative, first launched at Record Store Day 2012, returns this year with a series of covers designed by both renowned and upcoming artists for 700 singles released especially for the event on 20 April. The initiative sets out to raise money for anti-gang violence group Art Against Knives.

Each vinyl is specially packaged so punters don’t know which they’re getting until they open it. The acts taking part this year are Elton John, Jessie Ware, Nas, Laura Marling, Nick Drake, Haim and Public Enemy.

An exhibition will be held at Mother in London this weekend (13 and 14 April) to showcase the collection as a whole. Then next weekendn on Record Store Day, 20 April, the covers will be available to purchase.
