Iconic rock and rollers the Who are to be presented with a Blue Plaque by the Heritage Foundation.
The band will be given the accolade on 16 November at the Shepherds Bush club, site of their first gig 50 years ago.
Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle and Pete Townshend started their musical career as the Detours in 1962 at the venue.
The event has been organised by longtime admirers and friends of the band, Melissa and Gary Hurley, in conjunction with David Graham of the Heritage Foundation and also David Stark of SongLink International.
David Stark of SongLink said: ‘I've been a massive fan of The Who since first hearing I Can't Explain in 1965 aged 12, and since first seeing them live in January 1967 at Brian Epstein's Savile Theatre where they were famously supported by Jimi Hendrix.
‘Over the past 47 years I've seen them perform nearly 300 times, they were unquestionably the most dynamic live band ever and have one of the greatest song catalogues in pop and rock history.’
Recent plaque honorees include John Lennon and George Harrison, Brian Epstein, Spike Milligan, Robin Gibb, Morecambe and Wise, Eric Sykes and others.
